THE RENOVATION

Casa Antica has been meticulously renovated over a four year period completely adhering to traditional building standards.

Prior to the renovation the house had been neglected for many years. The bottom floor still with the original troughs for the animals and the exposed rock of the mountain side as the inside walls. The project involved completely renovating the exterior walls, a new roof constructed using old oak beams and where ever possible reclaimed wood and stone. Inside each of the three apartments the ceilings have been maintained, the interior walls are new and fully insulated as is the space between each floor. This has meant preserving the original feel of each room while reducing the buildings CO2 emissions. The staircase connecting the two top apartments has been completely rebuilt using the old terracotta floor tiles that could be saved from one of the floors.

Outside, the road leading to the bottom apartment was purchased by the owners and completely rebuilt. The entire project has created a unique building with three exceptional apartments. While the house is not in the center of town, it has a unique position offering a view of the old medieval town, the valley and a 360 view of the mountains of the national park.
